Libanus YFC Club Report 2009 - 2010

What a shame it rained on Rally Day.

We competed for the first time in the main ring with Baden coming first in the Junior identification, Chloe and Becky coming second in the generation game and I was chosen to go to the Royal Welsh to judge Lleyn sheep and came 5th.

However, the enjoyment of Rally Day was overshadowed by the sad death of Mrs Jean Williams, a stalwart of our Club.

She was a past president of the club, a club leader, a girls section leader and also judged at the Rally.

She also excelled in teaching cookery teams even for other clubs in the County.

An enjoyable evening was spent with Beulah YFC playing rounders and having a barbeque.

A sponsored walk took place up to Pen-y-fan, although when we got to the top we could not even see one another let alone the view but we managed to raise £400.

The Winter programme was varied and involved through the year, a lot or active participation which included, going to a golfing range, ten pin bowling, Quackers and a Halloween party joined with Beulah YFC.

The remainder consisted of talks which included a visit to the vets, lamb trimming, stock judging, a night of Rally slides kindly provided by Claire Price followed by a takeaway and also a farm tour. We also went to the Pantomine to see Baden (strutting his stuff) an annual ice skating trip to Cardiff involving all YFC.

On Competition day Hugh and myself came fourth in the generation game.

Hugh, Davey, Owen and myself were chosen in the top 8 in the Winter fair with the YFC Lamb Competition.

A Social night involving Club Officers, including a visit to Liangorse Rope Centre and "have a go" which meant peeling an apple with the winner having the longest peel.

We had a YFC Carol Service in the Plough, Brecon, where Hugh and myself were selected to carry a hamper each.

I'm proud to say I won the Robert Davies shield, which was for the Stockman of the year 16 years and under.

At this point I take this opportunity of thanking everyone who has helped the club especially for the guidance received by our Club Leaders, Kate and Claire.

The Club regularly meets at Llanfaes School at 7.30 p.m. on Tuesdays. A warm welcome awaits all new Members.
