Llanigon YFC Club Report 2009 - 2010
Its time once again for our Club Report, a year of ups and downs.
May and the County Games where the Metcalfe's reigned winning shot-put, discus, javelin and 400m.
Next was Rally Day and down came the rain. Kathryn won the Cover Design, Design a Webpage and Girl's Cookery; Owen won the Boy's Cookery- look out Jamie Oliver! Lizzie K. and Morgan won the Generation Game; Jenny and Lizzie M. judged the Welsh Cobs. As a result of all the members hard work the Club won the Duhonw Lodge Shield.
Kathryn then represented the County at the Royal Show and Jenny at the Royal Welsh with both gaining 2nd placings.
August and the big 50 for Llanigon YFC Show & Sports, the sun shone and all went well at the new Show Site.
Autumn and Stockjudging time, Llanigon Members have a keen eye for their stock, Owen winning the Sennybridge YFC Trophy for Stockman of the Year under 21 and Jenny winning the Evan Morgan Shield for Stockman of the Year under 26.
October and Stephen, Owen, Jenny and Ollie enjoyed a trip to Texas, visiting Cattle Ranches, Rodeos and enjoying mighty burgers.
Johnny wins the County Lamb Trimming.
Bethan & Emma attended the Field Day at Builth, Competitions Day at Brecon, the County Harvest Festival and the Carol Service.
December and Owen was off to the Winter Fair with his Calf, Enzo, and he won the Animal Health & Welfare Competition., and then winning the Overall Stockman of the Year!
The Xmas Meal at the Honey Pot Café was enjoyed by all.
The New Year and Drama Practice, Owen, Johnny, Rhys, Callum and Lizzie staged their ‘Farm Gear' One Plus.
Pumpkin making, pancake tossing, pizza making, Indian cuisine night, Xmas wreaths, laser shooting, touch ball, ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire' with Jonathan Harrington, silly senses, a trip to Llangorse Rope Centre and ten-pin bowling at Brecon.
The Club was greatly saddened by the passing of our Club Presidents, Wilfred in October and Jean in December. Wilfred was also a founder member of Llanigon Club and Jean was a Club Leader for many years. It was a great loss to the Club and this years Carol Singing money, £248, was donated to the Family's Funeral Donations in memory of Wilfred and Jean.
Finally, a big thank you to everyone who has supported the Club in the last year.
