Trecastle YFC Club Report 2009 - 2010
Tremendous efforts have been made by all members to keep Trecastle YFC going. With only 14 members, we are determined to stay open and also to do well in all competitions we enter.
Recruiting new members to club this year has seen Trecastle excelling in competitions and all members joining in with club activities. Well done to all members who have taken part this year particularly to our younger members who have taken everything in their stride!
Elections took place in September for club offices. Lynda and Granville Price were elected club
Presidents and Mike Hardwick became Club Chairman.
Cookery and craft have seen Katie, Rhodri, Lowri and Caerwyn win the Christmas Tree competition at the Winter Fair and come second in the national cookery competition at the Malvern Show.
Activities this year have included quizzes, a trip to Heatherton, 10 pin bowling, orienteering, treasure hunts, Christmas parties to name but a few!
Starting 2010 was the drama festival where we put on a Junior play, a junior one plus by Steffan who came 3rd and a senior one plus by senior one plus by Katie who won the best female performer under 26 years.
Trecastle YFC is raising money for Penmaes School. Also, Katie was awarded £250 when she entered the environmental and community challenge at the Winter Fair to go towards the community centre.
Let's have a go is the club motto. Steffan, Iwan and Rhodri entered the multimedia drink drive awareness campaign and won over £200 for club. They went on to represent Powys in Caernarfon, Well done boys!
Excellent results have been achieved in the winter competitions programme. We have tried new competitions and have done well in competitions such as club display, county exhibit and club promotion. Who can forgot the boys dressing up in bikinis in a hurry!
Young Farmers recognised Katie's contribution to Trecastle YFC when she was awarded a Brecknock YFC Youth Excellence Award. Katie also came 2nd in the senior member of the year competition.
Finally, we would like to thank club leaders, welcoming new club leader Jo; old and new members, parents and the local community for their continuing and valued support.
Congratulations to past member Jane and Anthony on the birth of baby Aled. Good luck to all members in the forthcoming rally - Trecastle YFC is certainly alive and kicking!
