Ystradfellte YFC Club Report 2009 - 2010
Looking back over the last year, it's been quite eventful for Ystradfellte YFC - with the usual highs and lows. Last April we set out to prepare for the 2009 rally, preparations carried on until rally day. Although rally day was a bit (very) cold and wet everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
At the Royal Welsh Show our chairman Morgan Powell represented the county in the ‘Section D Cob judging under 18'. Although he didn't do too well it was a great achievement and privilege for the club to represent the county at the Royal Welsh.
As September came closer it was doubtful whether the club would carry on! With no village hall to meet in (temporarily closed for refurbishment) things were difficult. After a meeting between the members and County Organiser we decided that the club would carry on for another year with full commitment from everyone involved and Club Leader Shân Evans kindly offering her kitchen for us to meet in.
Our AGM decided that the Chairman's role should be divided between the members to get them involved with the club officers' roles. We welcomed Mr and Mrs Gordon Tay as our new Presidents.
Throughout the year the club has done a range of events from 10 pin bowling to Christmas pudding making and from a whist lesson to a Easter egg hunt. We entered more winter competitions this year but our report would still say "could do better".
In November we held our annual bonfire and fireworks display. An enjoyable night was had and even the people that decided to stay at home and watch out of their windows across the valley appreciated the display.
Fundraising for the club was our annual whist drive, with no hall this was moved to Heol Senni. Unfortunately our annual charity fundraiser carol singing around Ystradfellte was cancelled due to the bad weather! I think the residents were glad not to have to hear us all singing!
Our application to the Youth Bank was successful, with members Morgan Powell and Wyn Davies attending the Dragons Den style interview.
With a break for lambing we'll be getting back together to get ready for the rally, hopefully we will keep improving and doubtless will have fun.
It only remains to thank everyone in club for their commitment and extend our grateful thanks to everyone who has helped and supported us over the past year
