Troedrhiwdalar YFC-Wales Drink Driving Competition
Troedrhiwdalar YFC entered a competition organised by Road Safety Wales which invited youth organisations to produce a live action multi-media DVD warning people of the dangers and consequences of drink driving.
The members up for the challenge were Aled R Jones, Aled W Jones, Ieuan Price, Rhodri Jones, Ryan Wheeler and Rhian Price. A full weekends filming and editing was required to produce a three minute DVD presentation which was entitled ‘Sobering Isn't It'. The hard work by all involved was worth it when to our amazement we won the Dyfed Powys Regional Section winning £500 for our club.
We were invited to the Welsh Assembly Government Christmas Campaign Anti Drink Driving Launch at the Celtic Royal Hotel in Caernarfon where we had an excellent lunch and presented with our cheque from Deputy First Minister of Wales, Ieuan Wyn Jones AM. Our hard hitting DVD, with a very clear message "DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE" was shown on a big screen, we felt like Hollywood film stars!
This was a very worthwhile competition which made us all think about the consequences of drink driving and the effect it has not only on you, but others too. Our DVD can be seen on http://www.roadsafetywales.co.uk/ under Publicity.
