Brecknock YFC Hedging Match 2009
The Brecknock Annual Hedging match was held by kind permission of Mr & Mrs George Herdman, Ty Mawr Farm, Upper Chapel, Brecon. The weather was very kind to the competitors and spectators who visited throughout the day to support the Young Farmers hard at work.
The members demonstrated two different styles of hedging which included stake and pleach and farmers. The judges were looking for cleanliness of pleaching, strength against stock, finish and firmness and a good top line was highly important. Judges for the day were Mr Afan Jones and Mr Gerald Morgan. 
The Champion hedge of the day went to Ceri Davies from Bwlch & Crickhowell YFC with his section of stake & Pleach in the 26 years and under. Ceri also won his individual class and received the Ted Ralph Memorial Trophy for the best ditch of the day.
