On Saturday 26th September, Trecastle YFC represented Brecknock in the National Cookery Finals at the Malvern Autumn Show.
The team (Caerwyn Davies, Lowri Davies, Katie O'Byrne and trainer Shelly Davies) had qualified in the YFC rally in June where head chef, Mr Shaun Ballington from Llangoed Hall, was judging. As part of the prize, Shaun invited the team to Llangoed Hall for the day where he showed the team various cooking tips for their dishes and then went onto cook their prize winning dishes. The team felt very welcome by Llangoed Hall and the food was absolutely outstanding.
With Shaun's tips in mind, the team headed out to Malvern where the National Cookery Competition was taking place. There were 28 other counties represented and the standard was very high but after all their hard work, the team came a very proud second.
The team would like to thank Shelly for all her hard work and the staff from Llangoed Hall for their time and expertise.
