The Brecknock Annual Hedging match was held by kind permission of Mr & Mrs Hefin Price & Family and kindly sponsored by Trefor Prothero, hedging contractor. The weather was very kind to the competitors and spectators who visited throughout the day to support the Young Farmers hard at work.
The members demonstrated two different styles of hedging which included stake and pleach and farmers. The judges were looking for cleanliness of pleaching, strength against stock, finish and firmness and a good top line was highly important. Judges for the day were Mr M Starkey from Hay-on-Wye and Mr Estyn James from Beulah.
The Champion hedge of the day went to Andrew Rees and Baden Powell from Bwlch & Crickhowell YFC with his section of stake & Pleach in the Pairs.
