Brecknock YFC Youth Excellence Awards

This year the County were most fortunate to be approached by Councillor David Price, Chairman of Powys County Council and were asked to nominate three members from the County to receive Youth Excellent awards.  Members were nominated on their commitment to their club, County and their Community.  The three members who received awards were Mary Phillips, Sennybridge YFC, Katie O'Byrne, Trecastle YFC and Morgan Powell, Ytsradfellte YFC.  The awards were presented by Cllr. Price at the Drama Festival.

Mary Phillips, Sennybridge YFC Youth Excellence Award Winner

Mary is an extremely active senior member within Sennybridge YFC, Brecknock County and the local community.  She has held office within her local club and has played a vital role in the past few years in the running of the club and other community activities.  She is a good all round competing member turning her hand to anything the movement throws at her and recently has been successful in achieving a place on the National Federation overseas trip to Canada.  Mary is a hard working and dedicated member always willing to lend a hand and has the best interests of the movement at heart.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  

Katie O'Byrne, Trecastle YFC Youth Excellence Award Winner

Katie plays an important role within a small club full of very young and enthusiastic members.  With a young family herself Katie has shown what great determination and hard work can do.  As a club official she is very organised and dedicated to her role and tries her very best to keep the club on track.  Katie has the young member's best interest at heart and encourages and supports them in what ever they wish to do.  She is willing to turn her hand to anything for the better of the club and to spur on the junior members.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Morgan Powell, Ystradfellte YFC Youth Excellence Award Winner

Ystradfellte is the smallest club of Brecknock County, Morgan has been a club officer for many years and without his determination the club would have folded.  Since the temporary closure of their meeting place the club have struggled this year but Morgan has been key in keeping the club together and has been determined for them to meet on a regular basis despite the difficult circumstances.  He has worked hard alongside club leaders to keep the club on track securing funding and making sure they have a varied programme of events.  Morgan plays a big part within the local community for example sitting in the local village hall committee and show committee.
