Mark Powell Preparing for Kenya Trip

11th July 2011

Mark Powell, Llandefalle YFC has recently been selected to represent the National Young Farmers Federation (NFYFC) as an ambassador in Kenya. Every year the NFYFC offers a small amount of enthusiastic YFC members to take part in the trips available all over the World. Mark is one of 2 people within Wales and 12 within the United Kingdom to be selected to go to represent the Young Farmers Federation.

Mark will be traveling to Kenya in August for 2 weeks on a Culture, agricultural, farming, teaching and community based trip. Mark will stay with local families, sample village life of a very different sort, get involved with village farming, learn agricultural needs and living, sample some teaching and local schools, and also get involved in a community project. The welcome is warm and the trip will give him an insight into a way of life and farming within the country. This will not only benefit the village in which he will be staying but Mark will be sharing his knowledge on the subjects, but will also benefit by bringing back what he has learnt to Brecknock.

To raise funds for the trip and project Mark has organised two Bingo evenings which will take place on Friday 22nd July 2011 at Llyswen Hall and Friday 29th July 2011 at Builth Wells Bowling Club.  Both evenings will start at 7.30pm, doors opening at 7pm with lots of Big prizes to be won.
