COUNTY - NEWS - OCTOBER 2017

Brecknock YFC kicked off the new YFC year with celebrating National Young Farmers' Week.

October is a busy month with the County calendar in full swing. Please check out the new website www.brecknockyfc.co.uk for all the latest event information, dates, rules and pictures. All club secretaries have been given login details to the new admin area and all entries from now on will have to completed online.

Clubs have had the new membership form booklets and all members must be signed up if they attend club on a weekly basis or are planning on participating in Competitions or County activities.

Please note that there are now penalty points occurred if members/teams withdraw from competitions which go forward to National or Wales Competitions. Withdrawals must be registered 5 days before the Competition with the YFC Office.

The Youth Forum AGM will take place on Tuesday 3rd October at the Brecknock YFC Office. The evening will start at 7pm and open to all junior members 18 years & under. To include fish & chips.

The first Competition of the year is the Have-a-Go Competition. Taking place on Friday 6th October at Upper Chapel Hall, starting at 7pm.

Fundraising & Events and Competitions Sub-Committee meetings will take place on Thursday 5th October 2017 at Llandefalle Hall. The first meeting will start at 7.30pm. Please make sure your club reps are in attendance. Agenda's and minutes can be found on the County website.

The Harvest Festival will take place on Sunday 15th October at Defynnog Church starting at 6pm. Clubs have been asked to bring with them 2 Christmas Shoe boxes which will be presented to Reaching Romania. Clubs will be asked to participate in the service and details will follow shortly. Refreshments will be served after the service.

COUNTY ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Brecknock YFC Annual General meeting and Award Ceremeony will take place on Thursday 12th October2017 at The Wellington Hotel, Brecon, starting promptly at 7.30pm.
Two meetings will take place due to the change of the charity status of the organisation, officials will be elcted and awards will be presented. Each club has two voting representatives but as many members, clubs leaders and supporters can attend as they wish.

Wales YFC - Closing date for the Calf Rearing and Best Prime Lamb Producer - Friday 20th October 2017

CLUB LEADERS NIGHT

The Club Leaders night will take place on Monday 16th October 2017 at the Brecknock YFC Office starting at 7pm. The evening will be ran by Sarah Langford from CAIS. It will give leaders old and new the opportunity to ask any questions they have on their role and share ideas with other leaders.
DBS checks must be completed by all leaders or senior members who have regular unsupervised contact with the under 18 year old members. The club leaders who require a check have been contacted direct and have until the 31st October to get their checks completed. LAMB TRIMMING COMPETITION - SUNDAY 8TH OCTOBER

The Lamb Trimming Competition will take place on Sunday 8th October 2017 starting with the junior section at 1.00pm and the senior section at 2.00pm. The competition will take place at Dolyfelin, Llanafan Fawr, Builth Wells, LD2 3ND by kind permission of the Jones family and hosted by Troedrhiwdalar YFC.
Directions:
From Builth Wells head for Cilmery, turn right for Llanafan opposite the Prince Llewellyn Pub. Follow signs for Llanafan. Look out for YFC signs.
From Beulah head to Newbridge, turn right in Llanafan opposite the Red Lion Pub, YFC signs will be located at the end of the lane.

Entries are due in for the Eisteddfod on Monday 9th October 2017 and the Homework items must be submitted to the YFC Office by 4pm on Monday 16th October 2017.
The Eisteddfod along with the Christmas Wreath, Welsh Reading, English Junior Speaking and Intermediate Brainstrust Competitions will take place at Christ College. A full set of rules can be found on the website and a timetable for the day will follow once entries have been confirmed.
