Brecknock YFC 66th Annual Drama & One Plus Festival

Brecknock Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs 66th Annual Drama and One Plus Festival was held at Theatr Brycheiniog, Brecon on 4th– 9th February 2013 supported by Barclays bank.


Members competed in the Senior Drama, Junior Drama, Senior One Plus and Junior One Plus competitions. During the week long Festival, twelve clubs competed and up to 300 young people performed on stage. Builth Wells YFC won the Senior Drama competition with their production Seven For A Secret” produced byDavid Price, Anne Davies and Anwen Nicholls, this same production won the NFU Mutual Trophy for Best Production of the Festival.  Sennybridge YFC won the junior Drama section with their production entitled ‘The Dog Sitter” produced by Eileen Jones. There were 26 One Plus entries, ten of which were senior and sixteen junior entries. Erwood YFC achieved first place in the Junior One plus section with “Injustice” and Llandefalle YFC achieved first place in the Senior One Plus section with “Mad Hatters”.

The awards to members for their outstanding contribution to the Festival,David Price, Sennybridge YFC won Best Actor 26 years or under;Mairwen Davies, Builth Wells YFC won Best Actress 26 years or under; Robbie Williams, Builth Wells YFC won Best Actor 18 years or under andElin Havard, Sennybridge YFC won the Best Actress 18 years.

The FUW sponsored the awards to members for their outstanding contribution to the One Plus section of the Festival, Mark Powell, Llandefalle won Best Male Performance 26 Years or under and Sophie Jones, Sennybridge won Best Female Performance 26 years or under.  Richie Davies, Sennybridge received the Kirsty Jones Memorial Award for Best Performance under 16 years.

The Builth Wells YFC Trophy for the Best Written Play was awarded toDavid Price, Builth Wells YFC for “Seven for A Secret” Senior Drama entry.

The Spin Dogs, awards for Best Set was presented to Builth Wells YFC with their production “Seven for A Secret” Senior Drama entry.

The best choreography was awarded to Erwood YFC Junior One Plus “Injustice”.

Brecknock YFCis very grateful to the support of Barclays bank for match funding the raffle.  To The co-operative membership for providing a hamper each night for the raffle and to FUW for sponsoring the best performance awards in the one plus competitions.

Builth Wells YFC will be representing Brecknock Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs at the Wales YFC Drama finals on Sunday 3rdMarch 2013 at The Grand Theatre,Swansea along with Llandefalle YFC “Mad Hatters” in the Time to Shine competition.
